Minnesota State Fair
For several years, there has been an FIRST Robotics Competition demonstration event at the MN State Fair in the Education Building (in 2012, Aug 23rd – Sept 3rd). Teams compete individually for points in a robot challenge based on the current year’s game. Each team competes two to three times during the day with time in between to take in the fair and market the FIRST Robotics program to the public. The three teams with the highest points are invited back on Labor Day for a playoff and a chance at becoming the State Fair Champion.
The State Fair contact is Sharon Manninen.
Thank you to all of the FIRST Teams that came and played at the 2012 State Fair! This year’s Fair Champion is Team 2052-Knightkrawler, Irondale. Congratulations also to Team 2512-Duluth East Daredevils, Duluth, and Team 2500-Inconceivable, Rochester, finalists at this year’s fair! We look forward to seeing you at the 2013 competition.
Here's the State Fair's 2012 competition results.
Robotics always attracts media attention at the fair. This year, Twin Cities broadcast stations featured stories about Sharon Manninen carrying on the tradition of the FRC Competition at the Fair.
