FRC Training Sessions

Hosted by ICC Engineering / Itasca Community College / Grand Rapids, MN

The ICC Engineering Department and Student Mentoring Group will be hosting three events for the 2013 FRC season.  These trainings and the pre-competition event are being held in an effort to help area teams navigate through their build season with opportunities to receive training and guidance as well as network with other teams.  These trainings are free to area teams and lunch will be provided by ICC.

Training Dates

Saturday, December 1st– Pre-Season Training Event - 10:00am-3:00pm
This training will be a splash of workshops on various topics – Everything from getting  your team going on the basics to thinking beyond the basics and  building your toolbox of knowledgeAttached is the training flyer with schedule, session descriptions, and registration information (please register by November 19th)

Saturday, January 19th – Post Kick-off Work Session
ICC Engineering will host this workshop for any teams that would like to bring their robot to this point for a group work session.  Instructors, engineering students, and experienced team members  will provide guidance and troubleshooting help on robot design, building concepts, a safety and inspection challenges to be aware of, programming, etc.  This would be at the end of week 2 of the build season where the robots (for some) are coming together and others may be a bit stuck.  This is an excellent time for teams to network and help each other out.  A schedule and registration deadline will be sent out in mid- December.

Pre-Competition Scrimmage - Sunday, February 17th– 8:30 – 4:00 pm
The pre-competition event will be an all-day event with time for teams to continue work on their robots, test and re-test on some of the course components, and by the end of the day be running some mini-competitions against other participating teams.  This was a great experience last year with teams helping each other out to resolve problems and share ideas.  A schedule and registration deadline will be sent out in mid- December.
